Nowadays in the theory and practice of teaching foreign languages search and the adoption of new approaches to training of language actively proceed. One of methods is communicative reading.
The term "communicative reading" we mean a mature reading, characterized automate reading technology and high level of receptive vocabulary and grammar skills and the ability to extract meaningful receptive.
Communicative reading is characterized of technology of reading and a high level of development of receptive lexical and grammatical skills. When the person mastering each modern language they broadens not only the horizons, but also their attitude. We know that at schools still pupils only take information from the text. But there are problems with misunderstanding meaning of the text. Reading fiction is one of the main training of a foreign language.
Traditionally, the purpose of learning to read in a language has been to have access to the literature written in that language. In language instruction, reading materials have traditionally been chosen from literary texts that represent "higher" forms of culture.
This approach assumes that students learn to read a language by studying its vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure, not by actually reading it. In this approach, lower level learners read only sentences and paragraphs generated by textbook writers and instructors. The reading of authentic materials is limited to the works of great authors and reserved for upper level students who have developed the language skills needed to read them.
The communicative approach to language teaching has given instructors a different understanding of the role of reading in the language classroom and the types of texts that can be used in instruction. When the goal of instruction is communicative competence, everyday materials such as train schedules, newspaper articles, and travel and tourism Web sites become appropriate classroom materials, because reading them is one way communicative competence is developed. Instruction in reading and reading practice thus become essential parts of language teaching at every level.
Relevance of a subject:
Firstly insufficient training of techniques and exercises for formation of abilities in communicative reading.
Secondly English language texts are presented in textbooks not fully.
Thirdly traditionally textbooks of English solve a problem of acquaintance of pupils to the British option of English and culture of Great Britain. From our point of view reading authentic texts of the American authors will allow to solve new actual problems of language education of pupils.
The aim of this research is to implement the communicative approach to teaching
reading to English language
lessons.
To achieve this goal it is necessary to solve the following problems:
•to study the literature on the subject;
• consider the features of realization of the communicative approach in the teaching of English in school;
• disclose the concept of communicative reading;
• organize and describe communicative exercises in the training and test their reading;
Reading is an activity with a purpose. A person may read in order to gain information or verify existing knowledge, or in order to critique a writer's ideas or writing style. A person may also read for enjoyment, or to enhance knowledge of the language being read. The purpose(s) for reading guide the reader's selection of texts.
The purpose for reading also determines the appropriate approach to reading comprehension. A person who needs to know whether she can afford to eat at a particular restaurant needs to comprehend the pricing information provided on the menu, but does not need to recognize the name of every appetizer listed. A person reading poetry for enjoyment needs to recognize the words the poet uses and the ways they are put together, but does not need to identify main idea and supporting details. However, a person using a scientific article to support an opinion needs to know the vocabulary that is used, understand the facts and cause-effect sequences that are presented, and recognize ideas that are presented as hypotheses and givens.
As practice shows the interest in foreign language students is reduced over the years of study. If in the 5th grade students show great interest in the study of this subject then the motive for this is its relative novelty and specificity of the training phase. The end of 7th grade an additional search of motivation. This is due to age-specific and socially conditioned individual characteristics of students. The lack of real communication situations that need to be filled attraction authentic texts and authentic materials in the language communicative reading.
Perception and understanding are key processes in the communicative reading. There are three levels of understanding foreign text:
• understanding the linguistic information;
• understanding of content, factual, information;
• understanding of semantic information.
Currently, the teaching of reading in schools with profound study of foreign languages has remained virtually unchanged. When reading is realized only one function of language. It is the function of the message. Moreover, reading a foreign language text, students are not able to perceive, comprehend the text, understand mean of author, isolate and analyze information, students do not learn. But they only superficially acquainted with the foreign language culture.
On the basis of the aforesaid, it is possible to draw a conclusion that at correct of all conditions of carrying out a communicative lesson, this method is the most effective for formation of creative thinking, information culture and language and communicative competences.
In the changed socio-economic and political situations, citizens increasingly feel the need to master a foreign language as a means of intercultural communication. Increasingly, foreign language is seen as a tool that allows people to better navigate in the world to have access to communion
In summary it is possible to tell that the offered work technique with the text for communicative reading promotes increase of motivation of the texts of foreign authors studying to reading. Besides, the sufficient volume of exercises will provide full extraction of information and sufficient training of lexical and grammatical material of the text.
